Our Dedicated Live-in Carers

Our carers are all 'self-employed,' and they are as unique as our clients; with their own personality traits and beliefs, yet united by a common purpose – to improve the quality of life for the people they look after. We not only care about our clients but truly care about our carers too and they are considered very much part of our family. Many of them have been with us for over a decade and that makes us very proud.


We are fastidious about our recruitment process and no carer is registered unless they meet every one of our specific criteria. We check:

  • Identification

  • Verify references

  • Obtain criminal record checks (both UK and abroad if applicable)

  • Explore employment histories

  • Verify given qualifications

  • Assess training levels

  • Interview face-to-face

  • Assess language skills and comprehension

  • Spend time getting to know each of our carers allowing their personality to shine

We want to know who they really are - we talk to them about their hobbies and interests, their family, education, background, likes and dislikes, cooking and housekeeping skills and basically what makes them tick.

We need to know them well to make a perfect match, which incidentally we do with our heads and hearts – not a computer.


Our carers are not only truly wonderful people, but to qualify to be introduced to Access Care clients they are required to re-register with the agency every two years. This way we ensure our clients can select from a pool of stringently vetted and recently trained carers.

Each carer who wishes to register with us is required to spend a full day with us at our Head Office. Personally, run by our senior management this is our chance to explain our values, beliefs and principles to our carers. We spend time explaining how Access Care operates, what being a part of the Access Care community means, we speak about housekeeping, cooking and table setting, communication and record keeping, and living life to the full whilst finding ways to deliver their care with the finishing touches to really make their service shine.

What Do Live-in Carers Do?

Carers will help with all manner of tasks and are there to help you in any way you wish. Our job is to help find you the perfect carer to do this. 


Some of the more common ways they are asked to help are with:

  • Getting Up & Going to Bed

  • Washing, Bathing, Showering

  • Oral Hygiene & Denture Care

  • Eye Care

  • Hair & Nail Care

  • Getting dressed and undressed

  • Medication Reminders, prescription collections & Dr appointments

  • Continence Management

  • Mobility Support – Wheelchair, Aids and Hoisting

  • Hearing Aids / Diabetes / Blood Pressure Monitoring 

  • Finishing Touches - Make Up, Shaving & Personal Grooming

  • Shopping & Food Preparation

  • Home-cooking ensuring delicious, nutritious meals

  • Everyday Cleaning – vacuuming. Dusting etc

  • Laundry – clothes & bed linen

  • Pet care – feeding & walking and trips to the Vet if necessary

  • Escorting to appointments – hair, chiropodist, 

  • Enjoying life – visiting friends and family and continuing with community involvement

Live-in Carer Training

Our Carers are trained in all manner of subjects and all have different skills and attributes. Their professional qualifications are listed on their Care Worker Profile, which we send to you when you are deciding which Carer to engage. All training certificates they present to us are verified by the recruitment team so we are sure we are presenting the very best carers to you.

Many of our Carers are professional ladies and gentlemen with extensive careers before they become Carers which makes them even more fascinating and diverse. To name but a few, we have Estate Agents, Architects, Police Officer, Teachers, Scientists, Beauticians and even those with degrees in Geodesy, English and all manner of subjects.
