Home-cooked and nutritious meals are a winner in our books and this simple winter dish is so easy to make and can help you keep warm throughout winter! You can cook this yourself, or ask your live-in carer to prepare this delicious and budget friendly meal for you. Amongst other things, a live-in care giver can help ensure their clients maintain a healthy and nutritious diet. Many home carers cook meals for theirs clients as part of their domiciliary services that they provide.
Please find the ingredients and method on how to make it below - we have adapted this recipe from BBC Good Food.
Ingredients:
4 sausages
2 parsnips
2/3 medium sized potatoes
175g Brussel sprouts
4 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. wholegrain mustard
Handful of peas
Gravy
Method:
Grill the sausages for 10-12 minutes, turning regularly. In the meantime, peel and chop the parsnips and potatoes. Cook them in boiling salted water for around 10 minutes. Shred the sprout skins and add these to the pan for the last 3 minutes and cook until all the vegetables are tender.
Drain and mash the vegetables, beat in the milk and mustard with salt and pepper. Serve on the side with the sausages, peas and gravy. Enjoy!
