What Is Palliative Care?
Palliative care is care, support and treatment for people who have a terminal illness which cannot be cured and the person is likely to die from. Conditions such as advanced cancer, motor neuron disease, and dementia are examples of conditions which could benefit from palliative care.
The goal of palliative care is to help the person have a good quality of life, and independence, during the time they have left. Palliative care involves management of condition symptoms, medication prompts and administration, support with every day tasks like washing and dressing, social activities like seeing friends or family, companionship, and nutrition.
Palliative care can be arranged at any stage of the illness, and it doesn't necessarily mean the person with a terminal illness will die soon - palliative care can be arranged for a number of years in some cases. However palliative care is more commonly arranged for those people who are likely to die soon - this is also called 'end of life care'.
Palliative Live-In Care Specialists
We believe that most people would prefer to remain living in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by familiar routines, friends and family. Having someone bring you a cup of tea - just how you like it - to your own bed, or cook your favourite home-cooked meals from the family cookbook; watch the Sunday evening programme on your settee where the family gathers, or help you visit your neighbour and friends - a live-in carer will be there to support you day and night.
All our live-in carers are trained and vetted - we meet each carer face to face and get to know them to make the perfect match for your family. A live-in carer can help with:
