Ten years in one job – you don’t hear that often these days! But I’ve just celebrated my 10 year anniversary with Access Care, a Live-in care agency in Andover, Hampshire.
My name is Melanie. I started with the agency as the ‘Live-in Care Manager,’ so I scheduled the Carers to their Clients and ensured the Carers were recruited and trained to our exacting standards before introducing them to our Clients. I was appointed as the Head of Operations approximately 18 months ago and the change of role has been an exciting and challenging time but I was really ready to accept a change in direction whilst still being able to keep control of the systems and procedures I’d been so pivotal in developing.
Over the years, I have seen many changes in the business. Most recently the change of Managing Director from Judie to her daughter Tiggy. At the heart of our Agency is the fact that we are truly a family run business and I feel, and am treated as very much part of the family. The number of clients and customers we are providing our service to has grown which is incredibly exciting. I work directly with Tiggy overseeing the day-to-day running of the Live-in Care Agency, ensuring that the whole team are providing a high level of service to our clients and customers and looking at ways to further improve and grow our business.
I am incredibly proud of the work we do, which at times can be under very difficult circumstances. It is lovely to read the testimonials which we receive about both the office team and the wonderful carers who do an amazing job and I am delighted to have registered with us. I get frustrated on occasion as my team work so very hard and our customers are very quick to complain, but that’s true of all industries I think and sadly as humans we tend to complain more than praise.
Over the last 10 years there has been a huge increase in the number of Live-in Care Agencies which have started up, and it is a true testament to everyone who works with me here at Access Care that this year we are celebrating our 25th Anniversary.
In August 2017 we came up with our common purpose “We provide peace of mind for your whole family by arranging the finest carers, to live with your loved ones in their own home” and it is with this phrase in mind that we will continue to grow and succeed. I am excited to see what the next 10 years hold and being part of a fantastic company at Access Care.
