Access Care 24hr Live In Care Services - Care Worker Training
We pride ourselves on the level of Training our Live In Carers/Housekeepers undergo prior to placement and ensure that we are fully confident in their ability to perform all that will be asked of them. All our Carers visit our Head Office in Hampshire in person and undergo a lengthy Interview with our Live In Care Manager.
2 written and verified References are taken - one of which must be from their current employer and the other from a personal colleague so that we may ascertain a fuller picture of them in all aspects.
An Enhanced Criminal Record Check is then sought which is the highest level of check available to anyone involved in regularly caring for 'vulnerable' adults.
All our Carers/Housekeepers are expertly trained by attending a four day residential training course.
Core subjects include:
- Moving & Handling
- First Aid
- Personal Care
- Palliative Care
- Dementia Awareness
- Protection from Abuse
- Pressure Area Care
- Infection Control
- Food Hygiene
Once this training is completed, all Carers/Housekeepers undertake a six week 'Skills for Care' workbook which is audited, certified and serves as a foundation for NVQ courses.
All our Carers/Housekeepers carry with them a large Access Care information folder containing literature on all aspects of their job from recipes, cleaning and laundry techniques to medication, first aid and information on many of the medical conditions they may come across. The Access Care folder is designed as a reference point for them and we are continually sending out updates and new information for them to insert.
